This course incorporates didactic and experiential content to explore the Embodied Recovery for Attachment Repair (ERAR) approach. Building a bridge between cognitive, affective, behavioral and somatic approaches to promote mental health, ERAD helps deepen the therapeutic relationship and increase the effectiveness of evidenced-based approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, DBT, CBT, Somatic Experiencing and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
This 2-day, in-person Introduction to ERAR offers participants an explanation, exploration and experience of the following:
- How the body physically and energetically holds emotions and traumatic experiences
- Bottom -up processing, Polyvagal Theory and Window of Tolerance
- The somatic organization of attachment through the lens of developmental movements also known as the Relational Cycle
- Adaptive attachment strategies and how they correlate with parts-firefighters, managers and exiles
- How to bridge between the cognitive and behavioral understanding of parts and bring in deeper somatic understanding of clients’ attachment systems
- How to translate the language and flow of the IFS model into tangible skills
- How providers’ own attachment system and primary strategies impact their parts and the therapeutic relationship
