Course offerings in Tier 1 introduce foundational concepts, theoretical models, therapeutic maps and skills for bottom-up support of recovery from mental illness.
Through both didactic and experiential learning experience, participants build a new lens through which to view their clients, themselves and the therapeutic process of change. This lens includes application of Polyvagal Theory, mechanisms for physiological and emotional regulation, principles of attachment, defense and trauma, and an understanding of our sensorimotor system. Tier 1 courses are only the beginning. Clinical and programmatic implementation of this approach is addressed in Tier 2 and Tier 3 courses and in ongoing consultation with ERI faculty.

Introduction to Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders IN-PERSON
The Introduction to Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders (ERED) course presents the foundational principles, maps and models of the ERED approach to eating disorders treatment. ERED focuses on the bottom-up impact the body has on disordered eating and recovery by exploring the epigenetic, prenatal and perinatal experience, anatomical, physiological, kinesiological, movement, and postural influences on the neurological regulation necessary for ‘normative eating’. ERED facilitates the intersection of neurobiological organization, subjective psycho-sensorimotor experience of self, and the basic human needs for attachment and defense.

Fundamental Skills for Working with the Body in Mental Health Settings
This course is designed for providers who have little or no prior training in body-based approaches to treatment. We will introduce and practice basics for learning the body’s languages of 5-sense perception, internal sensation and movement. Participants will begin by learning how their own bodies speak and listen. Then we will practice skills for energetic, somatic and cognitive dialogue with clients.
Anticipated launch Spring 2023.
